Our Wives Under The Sea by Julia Armfield

Did not finish book. Stopped at 33%.
More telling than showing- I think
I had different expectations 😅 I was told it was horror and expected creepy vibes with an actual plot. There is no plot, it examines grief and the relationship between Leah and Miri.

These types of books are just not my style if there’s no plot, too much telling over showing, and the characters are just okay. I wasn’t pulled into the novel in any way and struggled to get into the book although the writing is beautiful with some lines that really struck me. I wanted more from Leah and less from Miri, with all her interactions that don’t add anything.

The book wasn't enough of a story to be engaged in. i wanted something more to hold up the plot or round out the characters than what we were given. Literary fiction is always 50/50 for me and sadly this was one that just didn’t work for me.
