The Holiday Trap by Roan Parrish

5.0

Ooooh I loved this book SO. MUCH.

I happened to start watching The Holiday, then had to put the baby to sleep, then I finished my previous audio read and switched to this one and immediately... hooked.

It's a setup like The Holiday (maybe I should have realized from The Holiday-esq name) - Greta is one of five or six (I lost count) sisters living in a small snowy town in Maine. She's deeply unhappy because her mom/one sister signed her up for a holiday auction where you bid on people for dates. Truman lives in New Orleans and is deeply unhappy because he just learned his boyfriend of a year actually has a family. Their mutual friend sets them up for a Holiday-style house swap over the holidays.

The story jumps back and forth between Greta and Truman and the love each of them finds in their new location. Greta with Carys, a miniature pony-owning, ghost tour hosting, math teachering woman with crazy cool friends; and Truman with Ash, a cute as pie flower shop owner dealing with a ton of responsibilities including a slow flower shop and a mom with dementia/Alzheimer's. (We do not get POV's from Carys/Ash.)

This was like A PERFECT holiday read. Maybe because the stories go back and forth between the two of them so neither felt "too long"? I just adored both MC's + Ash + the discoveries they made... it was like perfect holiday magic. A MUST for the holidays.
