Another strong romance from this author. A second chance for a legally separated couple in the 1800’s. Who knew? Max, the impulsive artist had a reputation when he eloped with Isabella. After marriage, he continued his drinking & gambling, but surprisingly no cheating. He thinks he loves his wife, but not enough to show her that love. He’s in Paris, giving her a “vacation away from him” when she miscarries & it takes him a whole week to go to her.
It wasn’t hard to like the present Max. He’d spent the three years apart getting sober & changing his life. But Isabella has to want him to come home..or so he says. But, when an imposter burns down Max’s house, he basically moves in with her against her wishes. Or maybe not.
