Just finished re-reading - noticed a new detail or two, but otherwise rhe experience was just as great, and I can't wait to move on to The Eve Illusion now that the story is fresh in my mind again!

-------------------------

Let's set the bar super high right away, shall we? This was the best read of my year so far, if not longer than that.
I've had a huge crush on Tom since my preteens, and I'd read one of Giovanna's books before, so I was super excited when I heard about Eve of Man - really last minute because I live under a rock. I knew it was going to be brilliant - and it is.
So Eve of Man is, in many ways, your typical YA dystopia. Yet, it is also completely different. It is set in future London, at a time when women have stopped birthing girls, and only one female teenager lives - Eve.
Eve lives away from the world outside, which has been suffering the effects of global warming, waste and disregard for the environment. She was raised in a literal Tower, surrounded by fake perfection and preparing for the day when she is meant to start the Rebirth - which basically means she is supposed to singlehandedly produce a generation og girls.
What the EPO - the entity that basically governs the world - doesn't suspect is that Eve is curious and has a sharp mind. She can even see that her "friend" Holly is merely a projection, and eventually she meets the boy behind the projection.
There is a lot "meat" to this book. The characters are very rich and nuanced, and there are a lot of them. The context and the environment of the book is quite well described and somewhat plausible. I particularly love everything about Ben.
And then there are many important subjects that have been taken on and rexognized but in a subtle, non-preachy way, which I really appreciate.
I can't wait to read what comes after that literal cliffhanger at the end!
