This is my first Abby Jimenez book and I loved it so much that I have spent so much time thinking about it and it's probably my favorite book that I have read this year.
The reddit storyline was such an interesting beginning and how it is used in the end wraps everything up so nicely. Emma and Justin were such lovable characters.
Emmas mothers mental health and her storyline was so good. I literally was taking hits page and after page. I was bawling for 90% of this book, and all of the time that Emma's mother was mentioned. When reading about Justin's mother I was also wanted to roll over and die. The amount of maternal abandonment was so brutal. I related so hard to every single character and it just made me wanna curl into a ball.
I feel that Emma's mothers mental health could've been explored further but the choice not to make that decision was still a good one because it would've taken away from the main story. I still think it would've been interesting.
The ending was so sad. I was bawling like a baby and each page is so tear stained it isn't even funny. Emma leaving to work on herself instead of relying on someone else to fix her and to save Justin from having to fix her was chefs kiss. Emma knowing that Justin would stay by her and help fix her and not wanting to put that on him was so heartbreaking and the way that he was begging her to let him help her made me want to vomit.
When Emma came back and he was asking her to leave because he thought that she was just there to help his sister and didn't know that she was coming back for him was so heartbreaking just watching her retreat back into herself because of the rejection she was feeling and then standing up for herself. The character development was so good.
Kicking and screaming just thinking about it.
