this book was disappointing :(( i absolutely loved carley fortune's first book, every summer after, it's one of my favourite books of all time so i had high hopes for this one. even when i saw lots of people saying that this book wasn't that good i still had high hopes just because her first one was so good, however, the book was indeed underwhelming for a few reasons.

1) i didn't fall in love with the characters, they seemed super flat and boring to me throughout the book, even though they were portrayed as complex and deep or whatever?? i just didn't feel connected to them or the story at all.

2) i was so bothered by the fact that when will and fern met for the first time and flirted and all that, they were both in relationships. like.. what are you doing it was just weird to be honest and in my opinion it served no purpose to the plot for them to both be cuffed at the beginning.

3) i honestly thought will and fern's chemistry was mid.. like yeah i could tell they liked each other and that they clearly felt comfortable around each other, but it wasn't enough, it wasn't like that sizzling chemistry that a truly good romance book makes you feel.

4) i didn't like will that much, he wasn't like that super adorable book boyfriend that i usually like, and he kind of annoyed me the entire book if i'm being honest.

anyways i gave it 3 stars because even though i didn't fall in love with it, it wasn't that bad of a book. there were some cute scenes with will and fern that i liked. i can get why others would enjoy it, the plot and characters just weren't for me.
