4.5 stars. Edison and Rowen, the lead characters, have been playing video games together and Edison, entranced by Rowen and certain she’s his soulmate, has done some research into her. He’s waiting for her to invite him into her life.
Rowen, as a female video game creator, is used to people wanting more than she’s interested in giving. But when she’s targeted by a person who may be a real threat, Edison’s company is the one recommended for her safety. And she recognises his voice straight away.
He’ll definitely protect her but she may not be willing to forgive the privacy breach and lies of omission…
This short story is dual POV, well written and edited, and a character driven, sexy short contemporary romance. I enjoyed Edison’s focus, including his fidelity once he found Rowen, and the safety stalking he did for her. I enjoyed Rowen’s sass and her determination to make her own calls and to have a satisfactory explanation from Edison. I enjoyed their intimate scenes and the progression of levels of intimacy. I enjoyed the video game background and the discussion of the challenges of being a female in the video game world.
