This was my 52nd book finished in 2025.

Glad to be back with the science fiction after checking out something else of Wells. 

The setting and events of this story were interesting indeed, and as Wells frequently seems, is ahead of his time.

I found it all slightly anticlimactic until nearer the end of the story. I really liked the descriptions of what he found and what happened to him at the bottom. Very eerie. Did Wells predict Doctor Who's Sea Devils?
