Apparently I have been on a real fantasy kick this year and have particularly been enjoying romantasy. This book was the perfect mix of an intriguing fantasy plot with a sizzling romance. I am really weak for the trope of arranged marriage or marriage of convenience and it rarely misses; this was no exception.

The ending left us on a real cliffhanger as well as feeling like there were a lot of secrets left to be revealed. This book didn’t feel like it fell into the trap of spending the whole first book setting a story up so that it was only by the end that you felt as though it got going. I think what worked so well was the fact that a lot of time was spent on the interpersonal dynamics,
