Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros
4.5
recommend: 100%!
I enjoyed Violet more in this book. I liked that she stood up for herself, saying she doesn’t trust them anymore. She was clear with her feelings of betrayal, even if she understood the others at certain points. She was able to make it clear that trust goes both ways. However, when Xaden goes out of his way to show his feelings, and that he trusts her, and she still doesn’t fully accept it, which was annoying.
I know this book has been hit or miss for some people. To me, it feels a bit like a filler book. We’re getting so much new information, new characters, and new plotlines. They’re doing things that seem mundane but aren’t really; this book serves to further the overall plot. The book doesn’t have a fully formed plot, but it’s further the plot of the entire series.
This book felt a bit long, wasn’t the best feeling. I am pissed at the ending, but it’s a good kind of pissed off.
It’s hard to write an entire fantasy series for the first time. It’s especially hard when the first book is so hyped and amazing—the rest of the series has to match a 5-star start, and people develop super high expectations. I think Yarros has written 2 great books.
