What an awesome conclusion to the Starbound trilogy!!
Let’s start with what I liked first.
I really, really felt for our new love interest both Sophia (dimples) and Gideon were so cute… And I remember really enjoying Sophia from book two, so it was cool to see her Incorporated in the third book Also, I did not see the Gideon tie in coming!
I thought the story was wrapped up pretty well, the first book will probably always be my favorite, but this was a fairly close second!
It was really cool to see the gang all come together!
I was almost crying, so that will tell you how much I came to care for the characters!
OK, time for some cons
So ultimately, no one gets punished? Not even the bad humans or whispers? Perhaps I’m just missing the philosophical point of that but it just seemed like a cop out.
I get why the story needed it, but I really hated the back-and-forth between Gideon and Sophia, after a little while it simply didn’t feel genuine because of course they would ultimately end up together.
Also, what was with the if you put the gun down and don’t kill the guy that’s killed hundreds of thousands of people somehow you’re the better person, it just seemed a little sanctimonious
I’m really happy I finished the trilogy and would highly recommend if you’re interested in a YA sci-fi opera of sorts with a romantic subplot.
I’ll certainly be picking up something else from Amy Kaufman and Magen Spooner.
Ultimately, I did like Sophia and Gideon, but truly, Tarver and Lilac will always have my heart!!
PS all the audiobooks for this trilogy are well done, but this last one, Their Fractured Light has an incredible male narrator for Gideon, chefs kiss!
