The way this is so spot on and seamlessly weaves in racial commentary is mesmerizing! I loved every aspect of this. I can’t think of a single negative.
The mixed media approach is typically not my favorite, but it works perfectly here. I felt so many things while reading this. Anger, sadness, and a complete love for some of these characters along with total hate for others. The bullies make for amazing villains. Maddy deserved so much more, and it was so easy to sympathize with her rage and actions at the end. This is the perfect modern take on Carrie.
