Destiny by Rebecca Cohen

I would like to thank GRR for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.

15% in and the identity hijinks were making me giggle. I forgot how much fun quirky shenanigans with jokey mix-ups can be to read! So yeah, 3 books in and i'm very much a fan of everything Rebecca Cohen has going on here in both the Dark Earls and Fang & Fae series!

Another thing I love... well, so far anyway... is that Dark Earls is unapologetically itself! It's a narrative that suits the kind of reader who doesn't mind just diving right into the deep end, allowing the dynamic world and the bevy of cameo characters to just be, and being ok with going along for the ride wherever that may lead! I was happy i recognized a few notables from the two books i had read previously, but i'd already accepted that that may not happen and that everything in this installment was going to have to suffice. And it did!

It was more than enough for me to get by, but if you tend to get overwhelmed by not knowing who's who to a T, Subterfuge and Pining for the Prince would be great to binge beforehand to get you more familiar with the players who show up in this book!

Anyway, i thought this was great! And NGL I was living for this "virgin-on-his-wedding-night" vibe, and I think Cohen did a great job feeding that sexy tension! I loved Robin and Simon together! They were all heart-eyes, sweet and ofc very sexy, and i just melt for a couple who adores each other!

The action was intense and a lot was happening, with a whole lot of people from Houses upon Houses, and i did think that including the heads of the houses were a bit too much at this point. I keep thinking about Liam being like a "grandfather" connection in this, and while the heritage/lineage discussion was very important, i thought the rescue mission chapters needed a bit more breathing room!

All in all this was another fabulous installment in the Dark Earls series and i'm having a great time with both this and Fang & Fae! Searching for the Prince is up next for F&F, and Redemption is next up for DE and that should be a pretty wild one as well! Can't wait!
