Eleven Hours by Pamela Erens
5.0
This book was recommended to me by a girl who works at Square Books. She said it was one of the best books she had read last year. That it was beautifully written.
The words "beautifully written" don't really do it justice. It pulls you back and forth, like the strengthening and receding labor pains Lore is enduring. It makes time stand still, carry you back, pull you forward. Her story unfolds as her labor progresses and it is lush and simple and complex and cloudy.
The girl at the bookstore promised it was fast and at 165 pages, it definitely is a quick gulp.
It tore through me a little bit. I can't describe it. But I recommend it highly.
Truly one of those books I will never ever forget.
