“We were miraculous.
We were beach creatures.
We had treasure in our pockets and each other on our skin.”

Maybe more than any other book I’ve read, We Are Okay takes the reader inside the mind of the main character. I really felt like her thoughts were my own, her yearnings, her discoveries, her disappointment, and her grief. It was happening within me and unfolding with each page. It was quite a feat for the author to be able to accomplish that.

“The whole world was out there, but I was in my mother’s arms and I didn’t know it yet.”
