Thyme Travellers: An Anthology of Palestinian Speculative Fiction by Sonia Sulaiman

4.0

Thyme Travellers is a collection of speculative short stories from across the Palestinian diaspora.

Like many anthologies, this collection covers a wide range of topics, and, as with most anthologies, some stories resonate more than others. However, I thoroughly enjoyed the collection, particularly the overarching themes of cultural belonging and the exploration of the terrors of reality through a speculative lens.

The story that struck me the most was In The Future We Can Go Back Home by Sara Solara. I found myself rereading it three times, each time with tears in my eyes.

I am grateful to have encountered this collection as I continue to seek out Palestinian narratives, and I can wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking to read outside of their own lived experience, especially through the lens of speculative fiction.
