Everything I want in a YA fantasy! Easy to read but very well-written, loveable characters including a great (and insane in a good way) female protagonist, some very dark moments balanced out by humour, fun situations for our protagonists to get themselves out of etc. Also, Full Metal Alchemist vibes which is always a win, though that might not have been an inspiration - this is very much its own story!

Overall, loved this, one of my favourite books of the year!
