Ok, so I know I am supposed to base books on their own merits, but I was completely comparing it to the tv show, which is one of my favorites. Don't get me wrong, the book is very well written. The plot has plenty of twists and turns to keep me guessing almost right to the end. I felt it ended a bit too abruptly to be fully satisfying. Maura is completely missing from the story and that companionship that she and Jane have is the main reason that I love the show. I also had a hard time feeling anything for Jane as the story progressed. She lacked the warmth that Angie Harmon portrays on the show. Overall, a good read, just a little short of where I would have liked it to be.
