The introduction was informative. I don't know what expected when I picked this up. I already knew the stories thanks to the Literature and History podcast, which is also responsible for my knowledge of the existence of the Epic of Gilgamesh as a whole. I think the podcast did a better job of telling the stories is a narratively interesting way. I also liked the connections to history made in the episode(s).

I do not think I will read this again, though I do not regret having read it. I enjoyed being able to fully appreciate Gilgamesh's ruthless when rejecting Ishtar. He did not hold back to say the least 😭 I also enjoyed the camaraderie between Gilgamesh and Enkidu. Of course, the characters weren't fleshed out enough for me to grow attached to them and consequently their stories, but it is absolutely monumental for one of the first works of literature (that we have access to at least).
