3.0

I would totally give this a 3.5 if I could! It took me a second to get fully into this book, but once I did I enjoyed it a lot!

This book wasn’t romantic in the normal sense, it was actually the definition of companionship (which is fitting) but Yos and Kidan were a slow burn in this story even in the sense of befriending one another. It wasn’t romantic as much as a partnership made on a common goal, growth, and the occasional passions thrown in. I enjoyed it more for its lack of romantic themes. We rarely get something that is less than soulmates and marriage and it’s fun to read about a partnership instead.

Kidan was a fun character that showed the poles of something (cruel vs innocent) and how that might change depending on circumstance, change of heart, and person afflicted. She made decisions that lacked forethought, or any common sense sometimes. But she was witty, emotionally strong in her own opinions, and deeply flawed.

The ending was actually the most enticing part to convince you to read book # 2 which won’t be out for a second… but I might read it!
