I have loved Mark Billingham's previous books so when I realized I had missed the debut of a new series I knew I had to catch up and listen to it. The things I I loved about Det. Declan Miller. He has no filter - says what he thinks which is often inappropriate or insensitive. Thinks so far out of the box that his colleagues dismiss his ideas and/or laugh at him behind his back. His wife who was also a detective was recently murdered and he calls her phone several times a day to hear her voice. He has two pet rats named Fred and Ginger. His new partners last name is Xiu, pronounced Jus which reminds him of Au Jus so he calls her posh - short for posh gravy. I will definitely be listening to #2 as the mysteries are solid and I love Declan Miller.
