"Regardless of your political affiliation or leanings, or which candidate you like or dislike, we should all be alarmed when those who are driven by their insatiable hunger for power are actively undermining our democracy without care for the short- and long-term consequences of their actions..."
Part memoir detailing her experiences in the military (which brought me to tears many times) plus some about her family, and part political unmasking of the Elitists in Washington (those aka the Deep State/Establishment and (my words) "Old Washington" (both sides of the aisle)) Gabbard recounts actions taken to undermine the freedom we have as American citizens because we "may make the wrong choice". I highly encourage those who decide to read/listen to this to set aside any political affiliations and use this as a means to educate yourself about the present and, several times, points from the past as far back as John F. Kennedy, and how this warmonger Elitest group continues to work even today to line their pockets no matter the cost to our soldiers, their families and the populations of other countries.
She also recounts the varied reasons why she is no longer a member of the Democrat party and remains an Independent. The party she joined in 2002 is not the party today that it was then. Much of that party (old Washington) was/is cause for why she had a failed bid for President or even Vice President. Due to her tenacity and intellect, she would not "bow down" and be a "yes man" just based on party. While representing Hawaii in Congress, she would get several warnings for voting NO to war because other means (diplomacy) had not even been considered to keep peace. How dare she go against the President (Obama at the time)! Warmongers love to war; "diplomacy makes us weak." No, you just don't profit from diplomacy do you, Elites??
Her faith in God, her love for her family, and her love for our country are now my major reasons for being excited to see her be confirmed as the next Director of National Intelligence. (BONUS: She was homeschooled through 12th grade and worked in her family business)
She narrates the audiobook herself and does a TREMENDOUS job. You could really feel her passion and when she came to points that were almost bringing her to tears, you could hear her trying to hold it together (while I did not. LOL). Emotionally moving from anger to sadness and will make you look at our country from the 1960s until current day 2025 like you've never looked at it before....and be sad/angry about it.
