A timely story to read right now because of the resurgence of replacement theory in the US. And that's all I will say about that lest I spoil the twists. More of a direct fantasy/horror than the previous book I read (and loved) of his, The Devil in Silver. Still rife with wonderful and horrifying metaphors about parenthood, race, sexism, and immigration. Wonderful characters and a somewhat overly sentimental ending, but I expect that from LaValle at this point. He clearly has a big heart.
