Eve of Man by Giovanna Fletcher, Tom Fletcher

Did not finish book.

2.0

I wanted so much to love this book because it is written by Tom Fletcher, of Mcfly fame, and his lovely wife Giovanna. And even though it is dystopian fiction and I rarely, if ever, enjoy a book of that genre, I had to try. Unfortunately, I just could not make myself finish. I think my biggest issue was that Tom's voice seems to be missing. In his children's books, his lovely personality shines through in the words. This book felt like it could have been written by any big name author who writes dystopia. And I really hate that insta-love trope that is so often a part of young adult books, TV shows and movies. Because they never show the reality...where the two discover at some point that it was just infatuation and not real love. It's just very over done, and the plot points in the book were over done (protagonist is lied to by some corporation or group of people who want power over everyone, then protagonist has to become a rebel to fight for their freedom and life and become the savior of everyone). I want to read a book, just once, where the protagonist thinks they're right and the company is evil but actually, they're completely wrong.
