We Were Kings by Court Stevens

4.0

Compulsively readable and breathtaking, I finished this book in one sitting and was left speechless. A mystery, a coming of age but also so much more. This was full of heart wrenching moments as much as it was full of heart. Nyla was a great narrator and elicited all the emotions she was feeling as she unraveled the truth behind Cora King's murder and the conviction of Frankie Quick. It was engrossing, atmospheric and left you wanting more and more as the truths were revealed. I did have a few questions at the end but it was satisfying in it's own way.
