Infinite Bond by L. Rose, Lila Rose
- Plot- or character-driven? Character
3.5
Honestly if it wasn't so hard to find a polyamorous relationship, let alone an m/m/m/m one, this would be 2 stars. It gave off teenager who read too many badly-written wattpad fanfics. I had some issues that played at least a slightly big role in the book so it was hard to ignore. The main two were:
1) the female characters. aside from Tanika and Cade's female family members, they were all the mean girl stereotype. It really gave me the impression that if Micah was a girl, there'd be a "I'm not like other girls" line somwhere.
2) the dialogue. i could tolerate it for the most part but this book was more than 400 pages long, it got way too annoying only halfway through. It was like written by someone who has never had a conversation with a real person. i can't explain why but it was. As someone who has read way too many cringe wattpad stories, I know what I'm talking about because this is exactly the shit I'd write back when I was 14.
I wish we got to see Micah befriend anyone outside the group, I was so excited to see him interact with people like him because he had such a pure heart. But it never really came. I also believe we could've dug dipper into the backstory of the main characters, especially Hyde's, but considering this was a standalone I understand why we didn't.
I have to say, though, Sebastian and then the Council provoking Micah to test his powers was so funny to me because all I kept thinking was "there has to be a law out there somewhere about emotionally manipulating your student/s to test them."
In conclusion, I feel like a lot of things was overlooked because this book really focused on the romance part. So if that's what you're looking for in a book, this book is for you.
