Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day by Winifred Watson

5.0

Delightful from beginning to end! Language, characters, story, humor - it's all there.

A favorite line: " 'The psychology of silk underclothes has not yet been fully considered,' mused Miss Pettigrew happily."

Addendum: Just watched the movie. Why? Why do they change critical aspects of the book to make a movie that is so much less than the book? And the characters - I ache for them - so one-dimensional. For example, I don't have sympathy & understanding of Delysia in the movie, but I certainly do in the book. I realize this is just another case of the book being so much better than the movie, but it just didn't have to be.
