I don’t know how anyone can write a memoir about their family and upbringing while making every person whole and flawed and well rounded, and to be honest, most authors don’t. Safiya Sinclair has written almost a perfect one though and I’ll be thinking about what was in these pages for a long time. Beautiful, heartbreaking, redeeming.
