If You Meet the Buddha on the Road, Kill Him: The Pilgrimage of Psychotherapy Patients by Sheldon Kopp
4.0
Therapist recommended this to me since I plan to be a therapist as well. I did find it helpful as a patient though. It reminded me that we are all human with our own stories. It reminded me that "professionals" are just other hurt creatures like you and myself. I don't know if you ever are at a grocery store and you looked at everyone and you realize they all have their own stories and struggles but parts of this book reminded me of that feeling.
He very much emphasizes that we are alone and that we can only save ourselves, which I agree to an extent. I very much believe others help us and are important in our journeys. He doesn't deny this fact but it is sometimes overshadowed.
It also helped me understand Eastern philosophy a bit better too.
