This was my first introduction to Holly Black’s faerie tales, before The Cruel Prince was even released. It’s a pretty good story with decent writing. You can tell it’s one of Black’s earlier works. The characters are loveable, though, and Kaye and Roiben are incredible. Roiben is the OG silver-haired fae boyfriend (move over SJM’s Rowan Whitethorn). Kaye holds such a special place in my heart that I designed one of my dnd characters after her.
