Beach Read by Emily Henry

I enjoyed this book, despite it being a bit of a departure from my usual reading taste. The story and writing are engaging. I think my favorite thing about the story was the premise of making the plot around two authors who are both having difficulty writing their next books and write in very different genres. They decide to bet each other that the other cannot write a book in the opposite genre and get it published. He is Mr. "Great American Novel" and she is "Chick-lit", always with a happy ending. The characters throughout the story are a diverse and interesting bunch.
My criticism is that at various times throughout the book, I felt as though the female protagonist, January was so quick to assume the worst of someone else, despite being the gal who always had a fairy tale ending. I understood a little of that distrust but it was so much that it got old.
