Sophie's World by Jostein Gaarder
Did not finish book. Stopped at 31%.
the blending of fiction & nonfiction was interesting but once it got to the chapter describing the origins of christianity and i knew the author was dead wrong on basic facts about judaism it made it very difficult to trust the author on anything else he told me, particularly as he never ever cites a source. the author characterises judaism as obsolete and bloodthirsty, i would not have picked the book up had i known that. he has gotten into hot water in other instances for his antisemitism.
Moderate: Antisemitism
Minor: Racism
