Good Girl, Bad Blood by Holly Jackson

5.0

4.5*
Holy shit this was such an incredible sequel, and I cannot believe that it has taken me a year and a half to decide to purchase and read it!
A Good Girl's Guide To Murder was such a fresh take on the mystery genre, and I was entranced by it when it came out.
Good Girl, Bad Blood simply kept the momentum going without faltering, which can't be said about ALL sequels.

I decided to remove 0.5 because the story lagged at certain parts, and because it couldn't keep me hooked enough in the first part, but when the second part began and the reveals started happening I was instantly HOOKED and the book recovered, in my opinion.

This will be a spoiler free review, mainly because I don't want to re-count every twist that happened in here (there were A LOT of them) lol.

Pippa Fitz-Amobi was, yet again, a super good MC and I seriously enjoyed the character development that she went through after the events of the first book.
Her taking into account the danger she put herself, and her family, in because of her crime solving abilities was very interesting because you don't always see a main character that's self-conscious of their actions, no matter if they were done for good or for bad.
Pip feeling forced to investigate Jamie's disappearence felt like a very natural and organic way for her to overcome the fear of putting herself in danger again.

Ravi's role as the emotional support system for Pip was very cute, and he had many a hilarious moments throughout the book.
And as for Jamie, I found him to be unlikable and extremely gullible which made me care slightly less whether or not he was alive or dead in the end. The fact that he was so in love with someone he has never even met IRL before, that he'd go to extreme lengths and even ruin his life for this person is absolutely ridiculous to me.

The mystery in general was super immersive and very intriguing, just watching Pippa connect the dots and find clues where they couldn't possibly be found just made me admire and like her even more than I already do.
The serial killer details and twist made this book a lot more creepy for me, like make sure the doors and windows were locked creepy, which I didn't expect from it.

Finally, the thing that makes Holly Jackson's books a mega success for me, the multimedia elements that she includes in her books are superb and only manage to elevate the already enjoyable reading experience.
The podcast detail was seriously good and it made me feel as if I were watching or listening to the book instead of reading it. I only wish that some of those elements weren't in black and white, but I'll take what she can give me and I'll be more than happy with it.

In general, and incredibly good and well-written sequel that was immersive and did Its job way too well lol.
Seriously looking forward to reading the third (and final?) installment in this series.
