Brave New Girl by Rachel Vincent
4.0
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5. Look at me, reading a book fair purchase within the same calendar year! I am going to need to buy some extra copies of this for the library because it is right up my students’ alleys. Dahlia 16 was genetically engineered in a lab to be a laborer for her city. She has 4,999 identical sisters, all studying to be laborers of some kind. When she gets stuck in an elevator with Trigger 17, who is training to be a special forces soldier, she breaks all kinds rules - and worst of all, doesn’t regret it. When her indiscretions are discovered she finds herself running for her - and her sisters’ - life. Government conspiracies abound here, and I think middle school readers will eat it up. It ends on a cliffhanger, so I am ready to dive into book 2. Recommended for grades 6+.
