Sixteen Scandals by Sophie Jordan
5.0
Thank you to Edelweiss and HMH Books for the chance to read this book.
Spoiler alert: I absolutely loved this.
Sixteen Scandals (btw, I'll be real with you, I requested this because of the title and cover alone, I mean??? GENIUS???) is about Miss Primrose Ainsworth who is the youngest of four sisters in the Ainsworth household. She is excited about her upcoming 16th birthday, because that means she'll be finally able to enter society. She yearns to do more than be stuck in her house. When her birthday finally comes around, there are no birthday celebrations, no cake, no more than a casual acknowledgement of the day and her mother's explanation that she simply can't deal with another daughter on the wedding market so Primrose is expected to wait.
In a fit of teenage rebellion, she and her best friend travel south of the river Thames to where the fun begins and the good and proper people of society would not be seen dead in. When Primrose is separated from her friend and meets a mysterious and handsome stranger instead, the night takes a strange but romantic turn...
I was immediately completely enamored with Primrose, with her friend Olympia and of COURSE with Jacob (BOOK BOYFRIEND ALERT YOU GUYS!!). The story was absolutely adorable, exciting and swoon worthy and I read it in one sitting. The historical setting was superb and honestly, this book has very strong re-and re- and reread potential.
Also: Can I please also have a sequel that's all about Olympia and Aster? BECAUSE I NEED IT!
