This was an incredibly hard book to get through. However, once I started, I couldn't put it down. I just had to finish it. It was so good. It was gripping.
Jennette goes through a huge amount of trauma and abuse, there is almost no good things mentioned in the book that she went through. It felt like a downhill spiral. The entire book is extremely triggering and depressing.
I've been a huge fan of Jennette ever since I saw her on iCarly. I've been cheering her on throughout the whole book. I am so glad there was a bit of light near the end of the book. I'm very proud of the good progress she was able to make.
Furthermore, I am very grateful that Jennette has chosen to speak out about her experiences. Too often I see all these happy families and their good parental relationships, and I wonder just how "wrong" and "abnormal" and "unusual" and "different" it is to live in an abusive household.
This book sucks, Jennette's life sucked, her childhood sucks, and narcissistic mothers suck, but I am so grateful I read this book. And I am so grateful to hear about her experiences and to know that things can get better.
