The Honeymoon by Shalini Boland

1.0

The premise of this book was interesting but the twist absolutely obliterated anything decent about it. I kept pausing to flip back to the beginning of the book to check the narrator’s internal thoughts and all… while it COULD work in a way… it’s the definition of an unreliable narrator to the extent where it feels like the author didn’t know how to end the book so she made something up to finish it off. For a quality reliable narrator, there needs to be little hints of insight - you can’t keep readers totally in the dark (and the narrator herself, for that matter) and then expect them to buy the “twist” at the end.
