Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman
This is fantastic. If you don't think Viking lore is relevant today--with their mortal gods and fallible goddesses--then you must not know Hel is a goddess (yes of the underworld) who forces everyone to unionize before she'll give them what they want. Loki roasts the gods in a vicious tongue lashing before he's finally put to death. I mean haven't you ever been an asshole trying to get out of trouble? And the gods get a giant to build a wall to keep the giants out. Pure unadulterated gold.
The trifecta of Gaiman's mastery of mythology, his seamless interweaving of conflicting accounts in the Prose & Poetic Eddas, and the spin on his audio narration that makes it profoundly clear he is laughing at the fabel and folly of the gods...have I mentioned this is as golden as Freya's tears?
