I’m torn about what to rate this one. While the premise and the events in the middle chunk read like a generic zombie story—I had to look up whether this came out before or after The Last of Us—the beginning and the end feel poignant and innovative. I think, too, my review would be different if I had read this nine years ago when it came out.
