The #DiversityAcrossGenres challenge is intended to demonstrate how many great reads are out there no matter your preferred genre!

INTERSECTIONAL REPRESENTATION:
New to 2024, you can find the Intersectional Topics on the Instagram board. (In the featured stories on our profiles.) This focus on intersectionality aims to highlight overlapping and interdependent systems of discrimination. While the author categories center a few BIPOC voices, we encourage participants to seek out books that explore other marginalized identities.

BINGO VERSION:
We want this game to be accessible to all readers. For a "limited" version of this challenge, we invite you to go for BINGO and hit all 10 categories in just 5 unique books. 

DISCLAIMERS / FINE PRINT:
Due to the nature of socially constructed identities and the fluidity of borders and people, each of these author categories will intersect at times. For example, much of what we consider the "Middle East" overlaps with Asia. Additionally, there are Indigenous communities all over the world. Please use your best judgment and don't overcomplicate things. 

Please also be sensitive to the difference between cultural belief systems and the fantasy category. Some books may have mystical elements (like a man rising from the dead) but clearly not be fantasy. 

We will not be monitoring or correcting your category designations. This is a challenge to read more widely, and we hope you have fun with it!
