Anne McCaffrey is an author I always enjoy reading. I really loved the way this series started although I felt it lost a bit of its appeal as the books went on.I do find it to be a very fascinating world with great characters but I am not sure I love the formula of the story telling. But I still quite like it.

I loved this book. I liked the pace, I liked the characters, I really enjoyed the story. Definitely a fun book to read.

This was a re-read for me. I remembered enjoying the book more than I thought I would after the first few chapters, but either it gets better the more often you read it or I had forgotten just how much I enjoyed it the first time.

Major Yanaba Maddox gets more than she bargained for when Intergal medically retires her to an arctic planet and then blackmails her into agreeing to "spy" on the locals. There are strange things happening on Petaybee, and the company is determined to get to the bottom of things. They get more than they bargained for, as well, once the truth comes out. I've never wanted to live on an arctic world, but for this planet I'd change my mind.

Good for those days you want sci-fi but nothing is available at the library yet. Not the best, but far from the worst. Also I'm pretty sure we can thank it for some of that show, Helix.

(Note: I have no idea why I gave this book the rating I did. I had a paper book rating journal at the time I read this, and didn't always write reasons for my star ratings. I don't remember when I read it exactly, either, though I think it was before the sequel was published so I'm going to guess that it was late 1994.)
