Jane Austen could not have known or believed she would be so important and loved by millions of readers even over two centuries after her death. Not only her books but the multitude of visuals made to bring her work to life. Another much written about genre is time travel...we humans who love technology dare to dream the impossible... that time travel might one day be realized. In this work the author meshes two favorite subjects, time travel and Jane Austen. Sometime in the future time travel has become possible and a group who desire more answers to Ms. Austen's life and works send two travelers into the past to retrieve her letters and the completed manuscript for The Watsons. Even after thorough research about the era in which she lives they have some missteps and find their mission in jeopardy. I really enjoyed this work and the historic people that were brought to life. It was a fun read and gives the reader a glimpse into what the life and times of this very important literary figure could have been. If you love Jane Austen you are sure to enjoy reading this.

This is an engaging time travel novel, in which a doctor and an actor team up to retrieve a lost novel of Jane Austen's. In the quest, they discover that small acts can potentially change the course of history.

I enjoyed the Regency aspect and the philosophical questions enormously.

3.5 stars. Good flight/vacay book.

Romance with some time travel thrown in

There were too many inconsistencies in this book and the characters lacked depth for me. This felt like romance with some time travel thrown in instead of the other way round.

I had never heard of this book until a member in our Jane Austen book club mentioned it to me. I am not normally a Science-Fiction person, but I thought I'd give it a try because it did sound like an interesting concept. We follow our main character Rachel Katzman as she and a colleague named Liam Finucane take part in a time traveling project that sends them back to 1815 Regency England with the goal of befriending Jane Austen and her close circle so they can I uncover missing letters and thr manuscript for her never published story "The Watsons". They have one year to accomplish this task and make it back to the right site and time to be brought back to their time, or they are left in the past forever. Rachel is maybe a little bland at times, but she does give a good view into the story and the Regency world. The descriptions of the times and the way these people lived was well done, and the way the author describes getting to know the Austens, Jane, in particular, is really engaging and feel so real. I do think that the mechanics of the time travel and how it worked as well as how the delicate balance of affecting history could have been expanded upon more instead of just having the reader assume it all works just the right way since the characters in charge of it all seem unworried. Overall, it was an interesting and fun read, especially for anyone who is already a big Austen fan. I am glad I took the recommendation to read it and try something I otherwise likely would never.

A fun, frivolous read for lovers of Jane Austen and time-travel.

Yes, it involved time travel and Jane Austen but it wasn't cliche. It moved along at a good pace and addressed both 1815 and 2017 issues well. The ending wasn't my favorite and some plot points made me cringe, but otherwise a nice read.
