Overall, it was a great read. The story and plot were very interesting. The narration, however, is a little too sing-songy and schticky for my taste -- not so much though that I won't read the next two books. I'm excited to see how the series continues.

Reread Ink by listening to the audiobook.
I still like the concept of the story and the tattoos. Maybe that is because I am a bit obsessed by tattoos even I don't have any.

This was not a book I should have picked up. The premise of your good and bad deeds being tattooed onto you skin was a good one. The idea of having books of skin preserved in your home is one that severely sickened me. I don't do so well with mummies as you can imagine, and the story is so interwoven with these skin books that I couldn't finish it. The characters and the story didn't engage me enough to have me continue so I don't feel like I'm missing out.

*3.5

I chose this book due to its stunning cover. The metallic images were too beautiful to ignore. The premise of the book intrigued me, life events forever tattooed on the skin and a familial book created after ones death. It did not disappoint.

3.5 out of 5*

Initially I was drawn to this book because of it's cover and I know how important it is to not judge a book by it's cover, however I still find that some covers draw my attention more than others. Then, as I began to read the synopsis to just get a general idea, I was intrigued by the concept. I mean have you ever heard of a society who marks everything they do on their skin and then make books of their ancestor's corpses so they can come back to them at any time? I certainly haven't.

And I did end up really enjoying it, it was definitely a very interesting world to explore. I can see myself recommending it to younger readers. However, personally for me, it's more of a one time story, at the moment I can't see myself rereading "Ink", however maybe in future I'd like to. As such I chose to give it 3.5 stars because although it is worth of other reader's attention, for me it was just good, not amazing.

It was definitely a very unique book in the sense of the genre itself because for me it's a cross-bridge between dystopian and fantasy.

Loved the idea
