A fluffy, predictable read about a group of women brought together in friendship by being in a class together. You pretty much know how it's all going to turn out but the characters are interesting and the backdrop is Paris. Super light read

When I saw this book in The Works originally, I wasn't sure about it but due to their 3 for 2 deal- I ended up picking it up. I was pleasantly surprised, although I'm probably not the target audience, being in my late twenties. However, the five women are great, they all have their own personalities, and sometimes I forgot they were in their seventies.

The chapters floated between each of the five friends, so that as a reader, we could understand what their lives are like separately before they all come together for the trip. I think Pam is my favourite, the only person she wants in her life is her little dog Elvis.

As a dog owner, I can see why (although I have a wonderful partner and I'd never replace him with a four legged friend.)

I really enjoyed following the women on their hen party adventures. There were so many fun moments, personal growth, as well as drinking wine and just having a good time.

There's so much in this, and it's a fun time! There is elements of shock, but I feel some of the things that happen, need to happen in order for the characters to change- not a huge change, just a growth.

I actually really liked this book more than I thought I would.

Have you ever found yourself daydreaming about taking a transformative trip with a handful of your gal pals? (See: me, almost always.) When 73 year old Jen hops on the fast-track to re-marriage with another widower named Eddie, the gals from her aqua aerobics class step in to treat her like the bride of the century. With each woman giving us a different lifestyle (Pam, forever single, Tess, slightly miserable marriage, Della, deeply in love with her hardworking husband, Rose, sheltered widow, and Jen, our bride-to-be) - this book is rife with opportunity to find yourself in one of the women.

With just enough hijinks to keep you on your toes, this book is a delightful, poignant read - one that reminds readers that life doesn't end when you reach a certain age - in fact, it just gets better.

This is the story of five elderly ladies who become friends and travel to France for a hen party. During the book, you find out about their lives back at home and also what happens on the hen party.
The characters are very likeable and are full of depth. They will make you smile and laugh but you will also feel sad at times.
The writing is so down to earth that it makes you feel like you are a part of the story.
I hope that there will be a sequel to this book as I would love to know what the future holds for them.
A great book that shows the value of friendship.

A well written and engrossing read that mixes fun and some reflection on one own life.
I love the well written cast of character, they're relatable and interesting. I hope to have such a zest for life when I'm their age.
The plot is well crafted and entertaining, the setting vivid and well described.
I look forward to reading other books by this author.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

Jen tells her friends from aqua aerobics she is planning to marry a man she just met, and the five decide to celebrate by having a hen party in Paris. All five are women in their seventies, and each has her own issues. One has a husband who does little but play golf, while another has little companionship outside her dog. One woman has money problems, and another regrets she did not do more with her love for music. And then there is Jen who is already wondering if she jumped into getting married too quickly....

I enjoyed reading this book. The story is about five friends in their seventies who are trying to have a happy life. The upcoming wedding for one of them gives the ladies the idea of hen party trip to Paris. And now the story starts... Lots of fun, beautiful characters (I liked all of them) and the end saying that it is never too late for anything you want in your life. Very uplifting, pure escapism.
