If I could give this a 4.85 I would. It's better than a 4.75 but not quuuiiitteee a 5 star read for me. Still, a great book!!! Would recommend. Worth the hype.

Ezzy is going no where in life and is content with that but one night his friend and distant cousin, Grey, pulls him in to her scheme to introduce Bison back into Edmonton’s parks.  Grey was an activist but has become disillusioned by the culture. This was her idea to do true land back by bringing bison back. On their second round up things start going wrong, leading to terrible consequences. This is a page-turner with the truth of life that makes you believe that this story is real. The character are complex and so are the realities they face.

This is a meandering character study type of story - featuring two Cree adults navigating life and striving for a different future. What does the fight for justice actually mean? What does land back look like?

Sorrowful yet full of hope and kinship and glimpses into what could be.
