This is part of a series of books about a Swedish police detective. It was a real page turner and the lives of the officers on the two cases they are following are really filled out. The attacks and abductions take place during Advent and leading up to Christmas Day. You see the impact on the victims of these crimes, their families but also the police officers involved. From reading many Swedish novels it make is seem like a really dangerous place with lots of weird crimes. It must be the very long dark winters.

Not nearly as dark as others in this series. I keep waiting for the other shoe to fall. This was a good read, but not as intriguing as others. Winter's personal life is not the misery it used to be. Perhaps he's growing up? Never sure.
I do think he's an intriguing character, as are his colleagues.

Meh. The title doesn't really link to the plot line of the book at all. It's clear who one of the "bad guys" is from the beginning, as sections of the book are written from his perspective. How it all comes together in the end is a little loose/weak for me. And not a clear ending, as far as I'm concerned. Thought this would be a gem from my neighbourhood little free library. Maybe for someone else.

Uninvolving. Did not make it to p.50.

There's maybe something wrong about enjoying dark frozen murder stories in the middle of Wisconsin winter, but whatever.
