This year I read Ulysses, even though James Joyce is a great author, the book simply did not appeal to me. This short novel reflects the best of Joyce’s writing with characters coming to life and descriptions of places transferring me from my couch to an old home in Dublin. The story takes place in the winter with many references to the new year, but really doesn’t qualify as a Christmas story. I do recommend this work.
