Different species led to topic about adoption. Getting distracted/being forgetful. questioning a child for answer gets you your answer but may not have been theirs (potatoes vs beans)

What pushed this book to five stars for me was the little girl, an adorable pig who has the spot-on expressions and body language of a real little girl. Flouncing with pride when she can go buy something by herself, uncertain when doing something new in front of grownups, shrinking when she knows she's lied, hanging off the counter with one hand on her coin purse staring at the merchandise as she talks with the clerk. There's a good message about lying and making mistakes, adorable illustrations. Might be confusing to modern kids, because we don't send kids down the street for grocery errands any more, but still a fun read.
