I didn't like this book as much as the first one in the series. The narrator changed to the older sister and I found her personality difficult to like. Even in the first book I wasn't very fond of her so I came into this with some bias. This story just made me dislike Lula even more, I found her to be whiny but she's been through a lot so I try to remind myself of that. 

The start of the book was really good. It hooked me within the first couple chapters and for a while it captured my attention. Somewhere in the middle things slowed down and I had to keep pushing myself to read but it picked up again towards the end. 

I'm really interested to see where the last book goes. I feel like the setting might be one of my favorite places, so fingers crossed!

Apparently I rated the previous Brooklyn Brujas book Labyrinth Lost 4.5 stars, even thought I remember not liking it?

I didn't have a terrible time reading this book but I don't think I'll continue reading the Brooklyn Brujas series.

If I thought the first book was fast, this second book was even faster and better. I loved how the books are switching to give each sister a spotlight and how this one deals with 1) Lula's aftermath of book one and 2) gives her her own story. This book handles a lot of grief because there is quite a bit of death that kicks the whole story off. Also, loved the weaving in of a wider magical world than was introduced in the first book. I can just tell how expansive Cordova's world is and I adore it. Can't wait for the third book!
