I am unfortunately on a rolll with 3/3.5 stars books. The first few chapters had me so hyped. Weird fucked up deer, gory undead animals, an anarchist community, queer people everywhere... the dream. It had some really cool concepts, but I really wasn't a fan of the ending/resolution that came out of nowhere. The found family aspect also felt rushed but in such a short book with everything else going on it's understandable, but it also means that the characters/relationships couldn't save the ending for me.
Incredible concepts, cool horror, I had a good time but yeah really didn't like the ending.

Short and punchy story about a anarcho-punk commune living off the grid who summon and elder god to murder a dickhead rather than just kick that dickhead out of the group.

And then shocker; things don't go great. I loved the perspective and how immersive into the punk culture the book was, but it felt sort of rushed and a bit scattered at times.

Many interesting concepts but nothing has enough room to breathe or meaningfully develop.

Well, this book has a friend of mine in it, it's wyrd gothic with mad deer in it, and I read it on a very sedate train journey. Good - not my usual kind of read but I did enjoy it, and proof that I should read more recommendations
